Starting to lose count of the number of times the power has gone off during the last 9 days. Last night (at least north of the bridge) it was off for almost 4 hours.

Should be a fun Easter.

Sounds like the hamsters & guinea pigs need some retraining.

I had to buy a new power supply for my CPU, but that's just how it is here you need lots of back up electronics. Rust, corrosion and BEL.

Whole island apparently. It rained, perhaps 1/4 inch so I guess that was the reason for the failure. By such threads hang our featherlight infrastructure.

Water pressure dropped significantly last night too - recurring Easter issue too.

This is nothing new. Been going on for the 13 years I have been here and I presume it was going on before that. Not an excuse but in reality if this is something that is a problem you need to have a backup. whole house protection from surges and brown outs and backup power. Simple and it has never been less expensive to have theses things.

You have to admit that the power and water and internet are 100% more reliable than they were 10 years ago.

None of this is meant to remove the powers that be from continuing to improve the infrastructure here on the island and someday I hope this is nolonger a topic of conversation. I am a realist though and don't think I will be alive then.

This happens almost every year at this time. We have a very dry period with high winds that blow salt spray and dust onto all the the lines and insulators. This piles up and as soon as you get the first rain they start arcing as saltwater makes a great conductor. Next thing you know - boom, brownouts and power outages.

Nothing like past years when that got so bad that BEL was trying to wash off the insulators on the poles... and power was off for hours at a time. They changed to a better style of insulator and things got better.
