These pictures brings sadness to us. The Boca del Rio park was vandalized, the plant barriers were broken and removed from the ground, a swing was broken, many palm trees were broken and graffiti on the picnic tables. We ask of everyone to please take care of the parks. Lots of labor and money are spent on the upkeep of these parks for it to be destroyed. The parks are there for everyone, and for everyone to enjoy and make use of it.

The Boca del Rio Park received a major "facelift" back in November of 2013 thanks to the sponsorship of Mr. Dan Listwin of Canary Coves.

Help us take care of the parks, if you see someone vandalizing the parks, tell them not to practice vandalism. If they insist, report them to the town council or the police. (8 photos)

The work on the park was BEAUTIFUL, and I have seen it being continuously used by families since the renovation. This is a shame!

But hey, let's put in some more roads, bring in more people, get bigger and bigger until no one wants to be here or come here anymore. Makes a lot more sense than staying small, maintaining and sustaining what we have, which is what brought people here to begin with.

We're spending money on the wrong things. Supporting our youth, building pride back in the community, keeping this island just that, a community. That is what this park is all about, and we need to see this as an underlying theme as to what is taking place here. And we should all care enough to do something about it.

I'm sad to see the continuing decline of La Isla Bonita.

I see your point. Why is "the road" not being built only wide enough for a golf cart (ONE) so taxis and trucks can't use it? Don't these taxis and trucks have to pay and cross the bridge to get up north??? Why are they allowed to cross the bridge (which they damage) in the first place? Politics I guess??? frown

I suppose I will upset a lot of people with this, but it would be so nice to have some kind of extra large golf cart or something to provide transportation at certain times during the day from up north to town and back on a regular schedule "after the road is built!"

We love AC and visited every year for quite a while. It breaks my heart to hear about the increasing crime.

And to your point arklatex, just a few years ago, the main means of transportation for larger groups/baggage/etc, was a 4 row golf cart. In addition, the water taxi's have always been an excellent form of transportation. And lastly, I love your idea of a 2-lane road that is only designed and built for golf carts.
