When I first came to Belize in 2003 I lived in Turneffe and considered living there due to its beauty and pristine nature, was not able to hang for a # of reasons. Anyway, I herd yesterday from a local fisherman, and seaweed grower that there is a casino/hotel/and air strip being built there as we speak with aprox. 109 employes working there. Anyone out there have more info. on this????????? Concerned environmentalist!!! //ambergriscaye.com/forum/images/icons/default/crazy.gif

There is a proposal for a larger resort with casino on an atoll, I thought LHR, but perhaps is Turneffe. Ask your area rep, the Min of Tourism. The one who is more invested in cruise ship tourism than overnight tourism. Don't ask him; he doesn't know whats going on. He is only told what to do. Ask his CEO or BTB.

It was supposed to be at Northern Two Cayes but I believe it was torpedoed as being too [#%!] stupid.

Yes, "to [#%!] stupid" the Belize Audubon Society came out with a rejection of the proposal, fisheries is against it, It's a threat to a World Heritage Site, most anyone with an little bit of brains can see it would be an environmental disaster and undermine the jewels beauty but the Minister can justify entertaining the idea....I wonder why?

Please educate me, how would people get there to gamble?
The Princess (BZ city)is very accessible and the place is falling down.
Reminds me of the restaurant built on North Caye Caulker.
They couldn't get anyone to go 1/4 of a mile, why would anyone take a boat all the way out into the "Blue"?

They wouldn't but it doesn't matter as the developers would skim enough off the top to make out like bandits before they disappeared. Just like many other "projects".

Years ago I saw an elaborate plan to develop Blackbird Caye complete with airstrip. A really big area; each lot at least 1/2 acre, some 5 acres.

Anyone with a 0.01% sense of business would know such a plan is destined for disaster. That's all I want to say about this brain fart. At first I thought this thread was started by a troll. Never too old to get surprised I guess...
