Ambergris Caye got a good soaking rain last night and early this morning. The island seems replenished. Our expected high is 87.

There are still showers around. Mainly in the North and a few near PG. I think these will be reducing as the day gets warmer.

So mainly a cloudy day today, but with some sun from time to time, more later, but the occasional rain in some scattered parts.

Rain could build this evening, but possibly not, I am not expecting the same as yesterday, should be lot less rain than yesterday.

I recorded 27.6mm ( 1" ) of rain yesterday. . . This is not, at least officially, the start of the rainy season, but that could start within a couple of weeks.

One criterion for the onset of the rainy season is two consecutive days of rainfall accumulation of 30 mm ( 1" ) or more, and four of the following seven days are rain days of 1 mm ( rainy days ) rainfall or more.

A long trough runs all the way from southern Mexico right down the full length of Central America. Again today moisture from the Pacific is being transported over to Belize. There have been frequent showers all afternoon. Have measured 11 mm by 6 PM. There is dry air all through the Gulf of Mexico but this dry is being blocked from moving south to Belize.

Not a lot of rain areas in Belize this afternoon, but nearly all of it on top of us, because we are having to do outside Electrical work. :-(

Looks like scattered and isolated showers will continue in many places on and off, probably through the night. You may have heard some thunder during the day, that is due to the Westerly cloud from the Pacific, fighting with the Caribbean wind from the East.

Look how the ITCZ activity has built up over Guatamala Pacific coast in just the last 3 hours.
