My friend and I are leaving for Ambergris Caye in 5 days and will also be in San Ignacio for the jungle and Placentia for more diving. While in the jungle and going cave tubing is their a spot where we can change our clothes when were done? If I bring a backpack will it be soaking wet after the tubing or can we stash it somewhere. Also for pants do you reccomend jeans or some other type? You've all been great with the feedback and extremely informative, thanks a lot.

just got back last week from san ignacio and it rained evry day we were there.....considering we come from the cold midwest the short rains were no bother at all....depends on what type of cave tubing you plan....we did barton creek and you have no worry about getting your stuff wet we hooked up with mike and rudy at hannah's in san ignacio and they gave us a nice day tour of the cave plus a horseback ride and swimming about 25us per person....we hesitated for a couple of minutes and he cut the price 50%...guess things are slow...jeans will be hot if the sun shines all day i'd reccommend shorts and some bug spray even though bugs aren't much of a prob this time of year in cayo....

We always carry a cheap $1 rain ponchos that you can purchase at the dollar store and also garbage bags and ziplocks.

Sweet Jane, when I watch the TV show "Yes Dear", Kim makes me think of you. Which is a good thing.

Lorikeet,
I have never been there, but I'll offer this up. I can't imagine wearing jeans in that enviroment, once they get wet?? yikes, heavy, chaffing, etc. [Linked Image]

I've read that a couple of the trips, ie caving, cave tubing, hiking, etc., recommend long pants(I assume for bug protection) and a change. I have these nylon pants that are actually shorts with unzippable leggings. Get at REI for $30 or some other outdoor/camping store. Columbia is one brand. My girlfriend thought it was a "guy gadget" thing and gave them to me as a present and bought herself a pair. She loves them cuz she always gets cold at night, even in warm climates.

The shorts are great. I use them. Lightweight. Dry fast. Many pockets. Can use them for hiking or for swim trunks. Never used the leggings, cuz I thought it was kinda nerdy but this time I'm bringing them along.

Hope you have a great trip. [Linked Image]

Of course ziplocks sounds like a good plan as well. hehe

I don't know if wearing a ziploc is such a good idea. Sure they are light weight, comfortable, and waterproof, but they are also CLEAR! [Linked Image]

I have to step in to endorse the convertible shorts/pants as well! Here are some they have at REI: http://www.rei.com/cgi-bin/rei/searchc.pl?stat=7889&query=convertible+pants

I actually bought mine before a recent trip to Turkey... great for shorts in the hot weather, convertible to pants in areas where women are expected to keep their legs covered. They're definitely coming to Belize with us!
