man, you guys can make anything sound dirty!

chloe...i am not as bi*#%y as she is or as anal (sorry), and frank is not that wishy-washy guy. thanks, tho, i think. she has a bigger chest too.

the $1 ponchos are great. now, the ziplocs...

how r u gonna keep your wallet dry? your film? your camera? your dry clothes to change into? where u gonna put the wet ones when u r done? how do you get hot sauce home without it leaking on your swimsuit? and that wet swimsuit you will have the day u go home, and the sandy watershoes, and the rum bottles (yeah, mine leaked, but they were IN A ZIPLOC!!!!!) and oh darn! the shirt i wore snorkeling yesterday didn't dry in time and smells of seawater, and there were the little seashells i collected for my daughter, and....

well, u get the idea.

Thanks for the info about the REI pants - hooked myself up with a pair for a trip to Mexico next week (a work trip, doing manual labor, and in an area we ladies are encouraged NOT to wear shorts). Sheesh. Anyhoo, they'll come in handy for my May caving and hiking adventures in Belize, too! Ya'll are the best, I miss hanging out on this board! I oughta come around more often!

Stayed in the jungle for 5 days. I would tell you to bring these things:

1. Long sleeve shirt (Long sleeve Tee or I took a long sleeve button down chambray shirt - able to tie around my waist when I could take the heat no longer, but put on when I could take the bugs no longer...) And arms are good to wipe sweat - which leads me to #2

2. BUG Spray. If bug bites affect you I recommend Repel 100 or Bug juice. You need something with 95% DEET. And you need it all the time. (At Jag. Paw, I didn't htink it was as bad as in Belmopan where we were). The long sleeves are good to wipe sweat off with so you don't wipe bug spray in your eyes or mouth.

3. Long pants, but lightweight ones. SOme of us took the sip off pants, but again, if you zip off... cover with bug spray. Me, I wore nylon running pants, not lined and they were awesome. Got very dirty but were cleaned easily and weren't too hot. I wore them EVERYDAY. (Cotton lightweight works well too!)

4. Baseball hat. covers head, blocks rain and keeps critter off my hair.

Have fun!

95% deet is pretty nasty stuff it may keep the bugs off but your next born child may have an extra arm or two.....we were using some stuff my son bought at the health store burts bees or something like that) it worked fine in cayo district....if you're going to tikal you might need some deet but 95% is way too much unless you are really going deep into the jungle...

sweetJane,

Two things to add to you ziplock uses list, They are great to keep a roll of TP dry and to keep a stash of baby wipes in you fanny or day pack.
