Belize’s First Telenovela Premieres with A Red Carpet & A Seriously Impressed Audience
Awesome. And after watching the one hour presentation last night I can honestly tell you, I was BLOWN AWAY by our local talent and by the production as a whole. And so super fun to watch. Even last night’s swanky party was fantastic. This novela is the REAL DEAL. But let me show you pictures of last night’s red carpet BEFORE the presentation of the show to get things started…
The Paradise Theater lobby packed up waiting for the stars on the red carpet.
And IF you live on this island, you MUST go see this. Must. You’ll recognize the actors, the scenery, your island…you may even see yourself in the background. (Or the dog you are sitting.)
And you are supporting an amazing thing. Film making in Belize by Belizeans. Lots of people were involved in this production. And if it is a success (and I’m not sure how it will not be), they will be filming more and more episodes.

Glitz and Glamour at the Premier of La Isla Bonita Telenovela
La Isla Bonita Telenovela made its official debut on the big screen on Friday, September 5th with a night of glitz, glamour and of course, stars! Eager spectators and invited guests made their way to Paradise Theater to witness the monumental event. The highly anticipated first episode of the telenovela was in production since the summer of 2013 and showcased life in Ambergris Caye. La Isla Bonita Telenovela was made possible by the efforts of Producer and Director Mathew Klinck, Executive Producer Horacio “Chito” Guerrero, and Writer Deion Vansel.
The event kicked off with the telenovela stars walking down the red carpet to their interview by Morning Matters Talk Show host, Rhonda Crichton and Deli Eiley. One by one the starts shared their views on the telenovela. Beautiful Shelly Huber, who played the role of Doña Clara (mom of the lead female role), was happy for contributing to San Pedro’s first telenovela. “It was an amazing experience. This telenovela is proof that San Pedro has talent,” said Huber.
A Hollywood Premier for Belize’s First Telenovela La Isla Bonita
The viewing audience was left wanting more action, suspense and drama as the first episode ended leaving everybody guessing what will happen next. But nobody was disappointed, as the caliber of quality, editing, performance of the cast and the story line was top notch and perfectly executed.
Incredibly impressed, the audience left the theatre and made their way to Holiday Hotel’s Caprice Restaurant where everybody celebrated the triumph of the first episode of La Isla Bonita Telenovela. Director/Producer Matthiew Klinck and Executive Producer Horacio Chito Guerrero, expressed their extreme joy at the success of the telenovela and the very positive reaction from the audience. Both are anxious to commence working on upcoming episodes.
“I enjoy working with young passionate people like me who would do absolutely anything to express themselves creatively,” commented Matthiew to international media. “These ones have never acted before, haven’t done professional camera work and they have never worked with sound either. So my expectations weren’t too high, but it turned out very nicely. We’re planning to do 25 episodes in this first series. The goal is to build a sustainable project, to provide training so these young people can continue to make shows like this, show them in theatres, show them on television and eventually sell them across Latin America.”
