Hello everyone,

We are hoping to coming to Caye Caulker to live for 3-4 months later this year. It seems to tick everything we are looking for.

However, one (possible major) snag. We need reliable, fairly fast internet access. The reliability is more important than speed. We work online. We need to Skype important clients in other parts of the world, for example.

I am struggling to find up to date information on the broadband on Caye Caulker lately. It seems it was very bad a couple of years ago, but now is much improved. Is that correct?

Any honest information very much appreciated!

Thanks everybody. Hope we can come smile

If you scroll down you will find the speeds and prices for BEL's Internet service;

Personally I don't have a lot of connectivity issues but I'm not usually doing anything that urgent. I probabaly wouldn't notice a dip in speed. We regularly stream movies without problems, though.

i spend usually the 6 months of winter on Caye Caulker and need to call the US fairly frequently. Sometimes several times a day. I use Skype, Viper and Tango. all are often hit or miss. I also have a local phone that I call from if all else fails.The Belize phone is reasonable if to have to make a good connection. About $.25 a minute. I figure if my business requires me being in touch then the cost is reasonable. I have even had a $600 phone bill on the calling the States from my T-Mobile phone. It was worth the charges.
