Wishing to move to Ambergris Caye for six months. Presently I am in Boise, Idaho and own a one bedroom condo in the new, exclusive "Aspen Lofts" in the heart of downtown. Are there any expats or dual citizens who would like to swap houses/condos for six months? I am a certified teacher/principal and have excellent references.

By the way, I turn 45 next month and am not quite ready to retire. In fact, I would like to tutor small groups of students, after school, by the beach in a quaint little cabaa. Eventually, I would like to start a school that will benefit the entire community.

I would appreciate any comments as I am just now exploring my options. Cheers,

LOL. Does anyone miss snow....

We always need more qualified teachers and new schools. It sounds like a great plan.

All the best wishes..

What should I expect to pay for rent, beachfront on the Caye?

Also, how is the drive down through Mexico?

Don't think many teachers in San Pedro are renting beachfront.

They are Govt employees, of course they can afford beachfront! All my money go's down to Boise where 90% of it stays, same problem San Pedro Towne has.

Beachfront if you're lucky will run $750US plus all utilities and then the sky is the limit.

Ideally I would like to begin teaching study skills to small groups after school. I envision them taking place in one of those small huts by the beach. I wasn't planning on working in a public school but would like to meet the needs of a diverse population with different economic backgrounds. Teaching only to expat kids seems a bit arrogant.

Latest report from frequent travelers from US to Yucatan (people with 40 years of experience) was that you should not drive. Period.
