So I was expecting rain but WOW this is a little scary!
This is like hurricane weather to me. Is this the way it usually rains over here? Hubby was supposed to return the golf cart this morning but no way is he going out in this. Hopefully it won't keep up like this for too many days

Meryl - this is the tropical wave that has been in the weather predictions for several days. Neither hurricane nor tropical storm expected for us here, just this wave. Nothing to worry about.
Only scary if you are in a little bitty boat outside the reef. Other than that this is nothing ......
Pretty much all of the forecasters said that this wave would cross our area today and emerge in the Gulf of Mexico sometime Monday. After that it has an favourable environment for development into some kind of storm.
If you take a look at the satellite for the Caribbean on the www.Intellicast.com website you will see where the clouds/storms are, and where they are going.
Weather systems that come off the sea tend to pass quickly, hence the wild winds that came briefly and now the total calm. More than likely there will be a few more cycles of this stuff today.

Good to know this shouldn't last too long & that Texas will be getting some of the rain too
