Weekly Weather Outlook for Belize
September 8-15, 2014
Summary: A deep and moist easterly airflow will prevail over the NW Caribbean during this working week. This is typical of September climatology, after the below normal rainfall conditions that prevailed across the country during the first half of the 2014 rainy season (June through August, 2014), which impacted the main corn crop that was planted later than normal. Model forecast (NOAA-GFS) is resolving an active tropical wave moving over Belize during Wednesday (see NHC 72-hr forecast map). This feature will be coupled with an upper level, diffluent ridge circulation, favorable for further widespread outbreaks of thunderstorms, especially inland over the Orange Walk, Cayo and Toledo districts.

From Belmopan... 08:00 BZT

There was some rain last night. . . .There are two more bands of rain coming our way, already over northern Belize.. . .. Will come into central Belize later this morning and might effect southern Belize this afternoon, if it does not dry up before then. . .. .The second band will probably go north of Belize, into Mexico.

We are between the low pressure centre of the last few days and a new low pressure, just to the East of us, squeezing rain out of the clouds. So I expect isolated rain showers, some heavy, mainly in the central and north areas....A little sun later, but mainly cloudy today.

There is a new, more significant tropical activity off Africa right now, which we must watch, actually two large patches side by side, the first should go up north, but, at present, the second one could develop our way.

That Low we had last week has moved into the Pacific and is rapidly spinning up as Tropical Storm Odile.
