Love FM Christmas Parade ushers in holiday season

The fourth annual Love FM Christmas parade brought color, music and joy to San Pedro on Sunday, December 14th. This year's parade was even bigger and better, with more brightly lit floats and sparkling golf carts. Residents flocked the streets on the parade routes from early to get a prime viewing spot of the gaily decorated lineup.

The parade started shortly before 7PM from the Boca del Rio Park and made its way to Buccaneer Street. With Christmas carols jamming away, spectators cheered as the floats passed on by. How Di Christmas Di Cohn?

And our Christmas Eve newscast would not be complete without the word from the street. It's a tradition here at 7News to go out unto Albert street and sample public opinion on that deathless question: "how di Christmas di cohn?"

As usual, it's a mixed bag, but most folks we spoke to seemed to be doing ok with their shopping, while also keeping it real about what Christmas is really about. Courtney Weatherburne did the questioning:

San Pedro Lions bring Christmas Cheer to citizens of all ages

For the past several years the San Pedro Lions Club has ensured that the residents of San Pedro enjoy the Christmas season. To spread the festive vibes, the Lions host two Christmas parties: the Senior Citizens' Christmas Party and the Children's Christmas Party. This year's events were bigger and better, with more holiday spirit than ever!

Held on Thursday, December 18th, the Senior Citizens' Christmas Party saw Lion members teaming up with the Belize Bank Limited, San Pedro Branch, to bring smiles to the faces of San Pedro's seniors. Guests enjoyed themselves, mingling with the Belize Bank staff and Miss San Pedro Lions, Arlethe Lima. A three course meal was served along with refreshing drinks. The seniors also got to dance the night away to the best tunes from Rompe Raja.

Then on Sunday, December 21st it was all about the little ones at the annual Lions Children's Christmas Party. Over a hundred children from across the island came out to receive their gifts from Santa Claus himself. With smiles on their faces, each child waited for their turn to meet Santa and receive that special Christmas gift, a few balked when they got close to Santa, but their gifts surely eased their fears. The children had definitely made it to the nice list, as they even received a goody bag filled with fabulous treats.
