On Ambergris Caye this morning we have heavy overcast, cold rain and a strong North wind at 17 mph. The expected high is 78 but currently 70.f. I should try and stifle myself when I start to predict the weather.

From Belmopan...

They show the cold front as sort of breaking up. . . .This is rather misleading. . . .There are two air masses around us at present, the upper warmer, wetter air and the lower cooler air. . .. .A cold front is not a line of demarcation as their line would appear to indicate, but a rather blurred dispersed area. . ..The cool air will push in under the warmer air in a wedge pattern, pushing the warmer air up, this then causes clouds and rain.. . ...Right now, the main warmer air is churning up and down in ITCZ type pattern to our east in the Caribbean, with Belize on the edge of that.. . .Hence patches of rain in any area, some heavy, too erratic to say just where, particularly with out the Radar.

Presently there is a strong northerly wind at surface height, putting us more significantly in the cool weather, which has formed into what I sometimes call Elevated Fog, giving overcast skies for much of the day.. .It may thin a bit as the sun gets higher. . . .I do not expect to see the sun today, but we may well get more rain at times. . . .I only got 8.7 mm ( 0.3" ) of rain last night, not a lot, but the ground needs it and more.

From Belmopan...

There does not appear to be all that much change since this morning.. . . .Conditions look lighter and better.. .BUT the actual rain on Belmopan has got steadly heavier this afternoon and evening, much like up in Cayo area. . . .The front has moved further away from Belize, the remaining rain cloud does appear to be more settled now.. . . . .So far 24mm ( 1" ) of light prolonged rain over the last 24 hours. . . .Good for the ground and plants.

Without the Radar hard to estimate, but I suspect the rain will hold steady and continuous for quite some time, as cold air streams down from the North. . . .It may ease up during the early hours of the morning and further easing as the sun comes up on Thursday.
