Celebrate the Saga Humane Society 15th anniversary with Saga Humane Society on Tuesday December 16, 2014, cook-off style. In closing out the year, Fido’s Restaurant and Bar will host the Saga Humane Society December cook off where the 2014 Saga Top Chef will be crowned. Ambergris Caye’s best chefs and 2014 Cook Off winners will be invited to participate in the cook off. The theme for this last cook off will be “chef’s choice” and is expected to draw a record crowd. Seating is limited to 75 total and VIP seats will be extended to the first 15 reservations. Fido’s Restaurant and Bar will be donating $1.00 directly to Saga for each draft and local rum drink sold during the event and will be serving their full menu.
Top chefs on Ambergris Caye will be invited to submit a Chef’s Favorite Dish, for fans to devour. Past favorites include Romi Kie of Pineapples Restaurant, Letty Garcia of Island Torch Bar & Grill Nancy Nida of Fido’s Restaurant & Bar, Heather Smith, Maylen Schmitt and more. Newcomers and past cook off winners alike will compete head to head for the title of Saga Top Chef judged by San Pedro celebrities and guests. The event will also feature amazing raffle prizes.
All proceeds will go directly to SNIP and the ongoing care of the animals at the shelter. The Spay Neuter Initiative Program (SNIP) launched in 2013 aims to humanely reduce animal overpopulation on Ambergris Caye, by reducing unwanted litters of puppies and kittens. SAGA Animal Well Being Director Kathy Marin says, “It’s Hip To Snip” and hopes this year end cook off spectacular will bring in much needed funds to support Saga’s SNIP campaign. In 2013 alone, 639 spay neuter surgeries were performed and Marin wants that number to double in 2015. “We have accomplished so much in our first fifteen years thanks to our original founders and volunteers who give so much of themselves for our community. We are focused as an organization to do more for our community and our animals and children through education and awareness. Our mission to promote kindness and prevent cruelty is a priority, as the success of Operation SNIP on Ambergris Caye.”
All proceeds from the event will directly benefit the shelter, and the animals and community of Ambergris Caye. For reservations and question please contact Sandie Betz-Eisenberg at [email protected] or contact the shelter directly at [email protected] or 501-226-3266.
