An American is claiming that he was targeted and assaulted by San Pedro police because he is black! 33 year old New York resident Tracy Blount came to our studios today and told us that he traveled to Belize for his friend's wedding last week. Buton Wednesday night, when he and his friends were celebrating at Daddy Rock's Night Club on San Pedro, he claims that police escorted him outside and assaulted him. Here is his version.

We spoke with the San Pedro Station Sergeant and he told us that Blount was escorted out of the night club because he was seen going in and out of the bathroom with known drug peddlers on the island; not because of his race. Blount also told us that he is missing one of his cell phones but the Station Sergeant told us that Blount authorized officers to hand over all his belongings to one of his friends. No drugs were found on Blount so he was released.

Racism in the only country on the world has a black and white man standing side to side on it's flag? I don't think so.

Get real, Police every day in Belize target young black men especially if they have dreads or tattoos. It is deliberate and part of their strategy. Its a fact, forget about that stuff on the flag, racism and especially racial profiling is alive and well in Belize.

I still can't figure out "known drug peddlers". If they are known drug peddlers why are they on the street and not in jail ? If they know who they are, why can't the police set up stings on them ? It isn't difficult. A uniformed police officer can walk up and stand beside them in the club, follow them to the bathroom, and around the club. The dealers will get sick of the police and leave since they can't do any business. It isn't rocket science.

Drug dealers don't get much sympathy when they say they are being targeted or harassed by police !

Something wrong with the picture, hassle the tourist and not the "known drug dealer"? Could not have stole the phone because they had him give all his stuff to a friend before they searched him??? Really???
