The hottest night last night for years, the hottest day since 2005. Largely due no Caribbean wind and the Smoke in the air.
Last night, had several very high, massive ITCZ flare ups, right on our door step, some even in Belize, even lightning and thunder, but virtually no rain from it. I recorded 0.8mm ( 0.03" ) which is not classified as a rainy day.
If last nights ITCZ swell ups did not bring rain, then what chance has this lot got. Strong westerly wind at surface this morning.
Not sure what today will bring. A fair bit of cloud, hopefully cooler than yesterdays 102°F, but I can't see rain presently.
Lets hope a repeat tonight, but this time with real rain.
Temperatures in Belmopan:
Today is probably going to be fairly similar as yesterday :
Tue, max 39°C 102°F Last night min 26°C 80°F ( Coast usually cooler, hills even cooler )
Rain. . .. .2.6mm ( 0.1" ) so far by 18:45
And now more rain in Belmopan area. . ..This will now make a huge difference to the ground.
It has already quadrupled the shallow soil water content by my graph, available to small plants and grass.
It looks like this has come in from Guatamala, over central Cayo district, hopefully with wider effects.
...Man, that strike made me jump. . ...Less than 1 second between the flash and the bang.
Rain in Belmopan now. . .. .5.6mm ( 0.22" ) so far by 19:30
