Here’s a question: Why do I as a ‘temporary’ resident on the QRP program have to prove to the government that I SPEND at least $2,000 US here each and every year –YET – elected officials that are REQUIRED to file financial statement – each and every year – HAVE NEVER DONE SO?
BTW – WHEN I paid $1, 8++ US to buy into the program it was then touted as ‘permanent residency’ and you only had to guarantee that you had that as an income.
The changing of regulations on whims will destroy this countries reputation just as does unsolved crimes, unregulated importation of vehicles and garbage – garbage – everywher.
Way back when Milo Paz was in charge of traffic he was a pain in the you know what - BUT he did have a sense about how much and what kind of traffic this island could handle. He worked with members of the Chamber of Commence and created a weighted list of requirements in order to get a permit. Belize Citizens had top priority. Applicants had to prove they had off road parking, etc.
I can’t remember there even being a pickup truck (but I may be wrong). After the red party took over town council everybody and is brother (or sister as the case may be) got vehicles; and they got bigger and bigger.
I better stop my rant – my head is working overtime.
But people – we need to regain some sanity here on our island that we call paradise.
