While on my last visit to beautiful San Pedro, I was baffled to see so many abandoned or halted construction resorts while brand new ones are going up right next door. Whats the deal?

Great question Silverado1.....We first arrived on the island in 2003 and saw the same thing. And now more than 10 years later we have seen some half started and abandoned resorts that have been turned into luxury sister properties.....We've seen bustling top properties become worn out and hardly visited.......There are lots of stories; some glamorous, others loss of interest and some you could only speculate. As simple as running out of money to the more complicated land ownership issues. Hopefully someone has factual information....In the meantime we keep watching not only the resorts but a variety of businesses come and go.... frown

YEP... My same puzzlement... Two come to mind... One "big" one is on both sides of the north road.. I "think" it's between Seascape and Los Encantos.. That would make it apprx 4 miles north.. The other obvious one is "The Hotel" on the east side of the North road near town. I'd love to hear the history of both.

Shyboy....I love your tag line.....Too funny and probably has some truth to it....If you see me out and about feel free to ask me about the 'Hotel'....I'll share a little of what I know of it.....The other one I'm not sure of....However, at www.sanpedroscoop.com our super awesome local blogger writes a few notes on some of the others......

Ok; my secret is out... Not a shy bone in my body... but.. That's my horse's name and he has been convinced since birth ( 19 years ago) that somebody is going to kill him. I will be on the island next week and had intended to look you up anyway as I try to meet forum users when possible. I'll send you an email at the restaurant.

Peter

Between Las Terrazzas and Seascape is what was to have been LT, phase two. One day they will probably continue. Meanwhile the portion they completed is a thriving resort.

The Hotel was never completed and therefore could not open. It is a very interesting property and the right investor could do something fun with it.

Journeys End is simply abandoned because it got old. Same owners as LT above. Consider it land banking. Not for sale. Probably the property Shyboy is referring to as being on both sides of road.

San Pedro Scoop carried a whole story on the Essene Way, another semi abandoned property.
