Each year they stream by the islands going South. I took this outside the shop just now.

Cloudless sulphurs may be found in all habitats when migrating, but breed in disturbed open areas where their caterpillar host plants and nectar plants are found. They have relatively long tongues and can reach the nectar of some tubular flowers that some other butterflies cannot. Red flowers are preferred. common name: cloudless sulphur
scientific name: Phoebis sennae (Linnaeus) (Insecta: Lepidoptera: Pieridae: Coliadinae)

Thanks for posting Elbert. I love this time of year - watching them all fluttering by.

I love it every year when we have these clouds of yellow all around our house!

With an occasional black and even more rare orange one now and then. They stay pretty close to the beach; I see them on the sea side of my house but not on the lagoon side.
I can't remember the year but it was when my daughter lived here with me at the condo that they were so thick it looked like it was snowing. And this density went on for days.
How fortunate we are to have the butterflies and Elbert too.

Thanks for the beautiful photo which is your area of expertise! Got to see the migration here in Placencia the last couple of days which was amazing. I hope the Monarchs do as well considering their declining population due to the elimination of their food supply courtesy of Monsanto.
