Does anyone have any ideas about getting rid of iguanas? There are quite a few on our property in the Eden Isle sectio of Caye Caulker that are destroying plants.

Get a dog. It will chase them, hopefully without harming them.

Get a cat - they will not only chase them away but will even catch them. [Linked Image]

Well, I suppose if you want to kill them....

Caye Caulker's iguana population already seems to be plummeting. The path to south point is littered with corpses killed by kids and their slingshots and the live ones are harder and harder to spot.

Absolutely, advocating killing of Belizean wildlife is not cool.

I have always had "sacrifice" plants. I have plants that the iguanas eat and they have left others alone. Of course they love the flowers so I mainly have bougainvillea in terms of flowers and lots of croutons.

What are croutons?

I figured my spelling was a little off! Croutons are those delicious flavored toasted bread pieces that you eat with soups and salads.

I think I meant crotons.

Haha, I thought maybe you made them tasty salads to keep them away from the other plants! Maybe it was a secret/trick I needed to learn.

Looks like it's kind of like the same problem we have here with foxes (in Northeast U.S.); once they find a free food buffet, they keep coming back! I found this article, maybe it'll help:
