Trying to make the best out of my third trip to Ambergris. We were told Ambergris had a fish market or area to buy fish straight from the fishermen's boats. We wont be fishing this trip but would love to have some fresh fish to cook for dinner one night. Anybody have the details of where and when and any suggestions of a great local fish? We have caught snapper and Trigger in the past and loved them both!

Thanks

You can find fresh fish at the crack of dawn down by the lagoon in back where the fishermen clean their catch.
OR you can sleep in a bit and go to a little shop across from Caye Supplies on back street. It doesnt look like a fish market so if you need help finding it, just ask. You can also follow your nose, as you can usually smell the fish from the curb ....

One spot. Back Street. Opposite Caye Supplies. The house has a large gate and several fishermen congregate early morning shoot the breeze and clean their fish. On the East side of Back St second property North of the junction with Saca Chispas (football field)

Thank you for the reply that should make it a little easier to find. Are there any more spots to buy fresh fish or Lobsters or Conch?

What ever they catch is there and they may not even know the name. Usually red snapper but they get smaller every year.
