From Belmopan...
Well we had a drenching last night, I recorded 56mm ( 2" ) of rain in Belmopan. This was due to a Swell-up similar to the ones that have been happening over Mexico, Guatamala and the sea over the last couple of weeks, but, up to now, missing Belize. This one was a classic, almost perfectly round swell-up right on our border just a little north of San Ignacio, it was large and high, reaching out covering central and north Belize. This was followed by a few small ones along the southern coast, then resulting in a large one over Dangriga, spreading out over south and central Belize. There are, right now several smaller ones developing along the coast. I am seeing slow cloud movement from the west, opposite to the usual Caribbean winds. I noticed a line of higher humidity crossed from the Caribbean yesterday and got just into Guatamala when the evening temperatures were dropping, which looks as if it was triggering these ITCS swell-ups, as the southerly winds clashed with that moist air. The Radar is still stuck on Friday.
Looks like this ITCZ activity over Belize has not yet finished, so there is more rain, presently along the coast, particularly near Belize City, but some inland patches. I expect the rain to diminish during the morning and some sun to appear later.
Temperatures in Belmopan:
Today is probably going to be Similar, to yesterday :
