Anticipating retiring in Belize. How is it ordering stuff online? Like say, a book from Amazon, a shirt from Eddie Bauer, etc. Any problems? How much longer does it take to get stuff?

It's easy (too easy), just use a freight forwarder in Houston or Miami and have your items shipped there. Most deliver once a month. If you ship direct to Belize you may end up with some nasty surprises especially if they ship DHL. I ordered a shirt online and gave my home address expecting it to come by mail, the company shipped via DHL and DHL Belize called up said they had my package and wanted over $100BZ to clear it and then sent it collect via Tropic to San Pedro.

For years with no problems I've ordered big boxes of scuba equipment out of California direct to the San Pedro Post Office. The same with camera equipment out of New York. You pay the post office here when you pick it up some duty and tax that's kinda big but worth not having the hassles of the customs folk that can be a real nightmare. I usually get it a week or two from when I order.
I agree with Simon about DHL, some real screwed up procedures and a trip to Belize city to get it if they can find it... and if they say it's at customs warehouse just walk away and forget it.
