Yesterday a wild fire in an area of heavy foliage (directly next to an occupied home) was discovered and thanks to the efforts of men working nearby, the flames were extinguished. Local opinions often are that the woods are too green to burn uncontrolled, but during this season that may not be so.
Further, we discovered that termite nests burn brightly despite copious amounts of water being poured on them. In our case one of the men took a pitchfork to the flaming nest and got it to a place where nothing else could burn. It was chopped, it was doused.... And it kept burning for a remarkably long time. So.... Should you have a fire and even if it seems out, check for these nests as they can reignite the fire.
Thanks to our local heroes.
