From Belmopan...
The general weather in our area is calming down a bit, no storm centres around, but there has been several small swell-up just off the coast of northern Belize which has been causing large areas of rain in northern Belize. That is starting to move away northwards. There are traces of the Caribbean winds starting to come in from the east again. There is another tropical front in the central Caribbean, but it is not very active. We can expect these swell-ups at any time now, because I think I can say the Rainy season has started, not always easy to define the start, usually defined as " One criterion for the onset of the rainy season is two consecutive days of rainfall accumulation of 30 mm or more, and four of the following seven days are rain days of 1 mm rainfall or more. " We have certainly had much more than 30mm of rain, ( 70mm ) but not the 4 out of 7 following days of rain, at least yet. But I think it is fair to say our Rainy season started on the 05 Jun this year.
Looks like today will be a mixture of cloud and sun, after the northern rain has stopped, probably little or no rain later.
