The largest religious celebration in Belize has to be the Benque Fiesta. And this year, the festival got just a bigger! The annual extravaganza held in Benque Viejo del Carmen Town, Cayo District, honors their patron saint Our Lady of Mount Carmel (Nuesta Seora de Monte Carmelo) and this year celebrates its 50th anniversary.

In honor of the golden achievement, preparations are underway for a can't-miss event. With traditional marimba bands, local food and drinks, games, mechanical rides, cultural presentations, sports events, and dance nights, Benque Fiesta has something for everyone. The commemoration of the patron saint lasts for a period of about 16 days, starting with solemn religious celebrations prior to the main festival. The focal point of the festival is Saturday, July 16th, when there is fun for all ages.

This year's Benque Fiesta will see activities being held from Thursday, July 14th to Sunday, July 17th. Don't miss it!
