Belize Weather Forecast: August 27, 2016 General Situation: Belize NMS: A gentle northeasterly airflow prevails over the area. An approaching tropical wave will support a few showers or thunderstorms this weekend. Advisories: None. 24-hour forecast: Mostly sunny today, partly cloudy tonight and sunny with cloudy spells tomorrow. Showers or thunderstorms will be isolated except for a few more over the Maya Mountains tonight, southern coast later tonight and inland tomorrow afternoon. Winds: North to northwest becoming north to northeast at 5-10 knots. Marine Forecast: Today: Winds: N-NW becmg N-NE 5-10 kts; seas: Light chop; waves: 1-2 ft.; generally isolated showers and isolated thunderstorms. Tomorrow: Winds: N-NW 5-10 kts becmg N-NE 5-15 kts; seas: Light chop - choppy; waves: 1-3 ft.; a few showers or thunderstorms. Marine Outlook: (Sunday night) Winds: E-NE 5-15 kts; seas: Light chop - choppy; waves: 1-3 ft.; a few showers or thunderstorms. Sea Surface Temp (°F): 81 General Outlook: For Sunday and Sunday night is for skies to be cloudy at times along with a few showers or thunderstorms mainly over the sea in the morning, over inland areas in the afternoon, and over the coast in the night. Tropical Weather Outlook: At 3:00am Tropical Storm Gaston was located over the Atlantic near latitude 27.9N longitude 52.0W, or about 820 miles east-southeast of Bermuda. Gaston was moving northwestward at 15 mph with maximum sustained winds of 65 mph. Also a weak area of low pressure located near the central Bahamas and Cuba remains disorganized. This system is moving slowly west-northwestward - at around 10 mph - and only has a small chance of becoming a tropical depression during the next couple of days as it moves into the eastern Gulf of Mexico. On Ambergris Caye this morning we have a rare calm day without a hint of breeze from any direction. The expected high is 89 and without a breeze that should be a special kinda hot.

From Belmopan...

That Caribbean winds coming from the NE yesterday brought dry air, but that cloud that split off from 99L and came across the western Caribbean brought rain across, which contributed to the swell-ups near Honduras during the night, causing some scattered rain showers near Toledo and a very few in other parts of Belize. That INVEST 99L has, over night, reformed clearly north of Cuba, only light 30mph winds but causing rain and going towards Florida. That other storm TROPICAL STORM GASTON they reckon will strengthen to Cat.2 and take a sudden turn towards the NE and Europe.

Looks like today will be largely sunny, but with s very significant chance of those Caribbean clouds causing rain showers to move in our way later today.
