On Ambergris Caye this morning the sea is flat and sky clear. The expected high is 89f. We decided to do a daily weather photo to illustrate Ambergris Cayes differences in weather forecast published from the mainland of Belize in Central America and the reality of Ambergris Caye being an island in the Caribbean Sea.
Quite often rain is predicted by mainland forecasters influenced by the tropical rainforest that is much of Belize. Ambergris Caye is an island behind the Barrier Reef off the coast Belize and influenced by largely different systems.
This difference is important to recognize for tourist planning outdoor vacation activities and checking predicted weather for Belize.

beautiful photo....

From Belmopan...

Well, HURRICANE MATTHEW has not started to turn yet, its eye wobbling slightly, it is still coming westwards, but very slowly, which is a sign that it can or will change course soon. There is a significant SW "Tiger" wind this morning and the few clouds visible are from the NW, I don't see any Caribbean easterly winds. It appears surface winds over Belize are going towards the Hurricane, being sucked in. The radar stopped early this morning so the patches of rain that were coming down from the NE have probably dried up by now.

Looks like today will be mainly sunny, with white clouds developing this morning, slight chance of the odd shower.

Temperatures in Belmopan:
Today is probably going to be similar, to yesterday : Fri, max. 31°C 88°F Last night min. 24°C 76°F ( Coast usually cooler, hills even cooler )

Agree Elbert. Matthew is a big bad storm. I feel horrible for whomever he visits.
