From Belmopan...
Our weather is very calm and steady at present, largely caused by the hurricane bringing a north Caribbean wind and generally dry air to much of Central America. The HURRICANE MATTHEW crossed over the eastern tip of Cuba last night and is now going towards the Bahamas. The mountains of Haiti appeared to deflect its course and make it turn slightly more west than being predicted earlier, that is why it hit Cuba, and now more deflected by the Cuban land. The two land masses slowed its down to Cat.3 but expected to recover to Cat.4 as it goes through the Bahamas. The latest predictions are showing it now going very close to or even on land over Florida.
Looks like we will be having a lot of sunshine today, but white clouds building later, probably no rain.
