Are there many ATMs on the Cayes? Or a need for them?

Quite a few on AC and they are well used.

Don't recall ever seeing one. Guess I didn't need one and didn't notice....

Atlantic Bank has one on front Street near Central Park.
Belize Bank has one right at the entrance to the bank.
Also there are ATMs at Wings, Village Market and the grocery at the San Juan round-about.
Probably more are south of town but am not sure where.

The Scotia Bank ATM across from the airstrip takes all VISA logo cards as well..... An odd thing that may be important to mention, or at least tourists have commented to us about.... The ATM machines disperse Belize dollars.....I never really thought much about it, however travelers have expressed their disappointment in it..... I would assume no matter what ATM machine you use throughout the world it would disperse the local currency.... Maybe I'm mistaken?

Every ATM that I have seen/used around the world ALWAYS dispenses local currency. I'm shocked to think that anyone would assume otherwise.

klcman....I agree, every ATM we've used around the planet disperses local currency (of course that has been since the invention of the ATM. Before then we use to travel with Amex Travelers checks and exchange them for local currency as needed)... That is why I thought it was odd to hear people make the comments.... Maybe it is because we use US currency here that they are surprised it is not dispersed....

In Playa del Carmen, I've used an ATM that had the option of dispensing USD.

some quick research on PDC and USD$ ATMs might give one reason to pause......just sayin'
