What other kind of fishing guide would there be if not pointed towards guiding tourists? You are aware it is a tourist based economy, correct?
Maybe that came across wrong....I do realize that a majority of the folks who hire guides are tourists, but I have met some guides that take advantage of tourists. For example, they may have a beautiful website with lots of pictures of fish, really nice gear and a really nice boat, and use this to "lure in" customers. Then the tourist shows up and the guide doesn't really care if they catch fish or not, the boat and gear may not be good, and they only take them to nearby fishing areas whether there's fish in the area or not. They do this because they know there will be 100's of other paying tourists and they don't need to rely on their reputation very much. Usually these types of guides are only able to survive in an area with lots of tourism. Make sense? There's probably not any guides like this in the San Pedro area, but it doesn't hurt to ask right?
