The San Pedro Town Council, in collaboration with the San Pedro Police Department, will once again attempt to install solar lights along the beaches of San Pedro Town. The project was originally planned in March 2016, but went dormant due to lack of resources.
Mayor Guerrero explained why the project had halted. The SPTC had redirected their focus at improving and expanding the streets in problematic areas before going ahead with the lighting program. However, the SPTC has all intentions to install the lights. "The SPTC has already installed 15 LED lights at San Mateo in November 2016. Before that, criminals used to hide out there. We are now looking to concentrate our resources on this project because it will help light our beaches, even during blackouts. I just want people to know that SPTC is trying and our plans will come into fruition," said Guerrero.
