Festival of San Jose
Coinciding with Labor Day in Belize, the San Pedro Roman Catholic Church celebrates St. Joseph the Worker Feast Day / D�a Festivo de San Jose El Obrero (May 1, 2017). Outdoor services have been set up at Flamboyant Park in San Pablo Area, south of San Pedro Town. Mass will be celebrated at 7.pm.
St. Joseph (San Jose) is the patron saint of the DFC residential area and the entire neighborhood invites island residents to join in the celebration.
Missing Canadian Woman's Vehicle Found In Belize
Belize Police have confirmed that the vehicle of the Canadian woman missing in Corozal Town, Belize has been found. Francesca Matus' white Isuzu Rodeo SUV was discovered in a cane field near the village of Paraiso, located in the northern part of Corozal, Belize on Sunday afternoon.
Matus, 52, and her American companion, Drew De Voursney, 36, were reported missing in Belize last week. The couple were last seen leaving a local bar at around 11 p.m. on Tuesday night. Matus' friend, Joe Milhoen, went to pick her up at her home in Corozal on Wednesday morning to drive her to the airport, but she and De Voursney were nowhere to be found.

Corozal - Two missing persons where found safe after they went missing for two days
On Saturday, April 29th Alvaro Trejo and his co-worker both from Sarteneja Village, Corozal left Belize City enroute to Sarteneja on their fishing vessel named the "Suheidy".
The crew encountered high seas and strong winds that completely destroyed the fishing boat's sails. To make matters worse, the vessel's engine ran out of fuel and the two men went missing at sea since Saturday, April 29th.
A search party, led this morning by Junnel Cruz, Green Horizons and the Belize Coast Guard led to the recovery of the two missing fishermen and their sailing vessel around 7:00 a.m.
The family of Alvaro Trejo would like to extend a big thank you to his nephew Junnel Cruz, Green Horizons and the Belize Coast Guard for their great efforts in locating them.

Bodies of missing Canadian-American couple found
Confirmed reports to BBN is that the bodies of Canadian national, Francesca Matus, and American national Drew Devoursney were found today by a search party.
The bodies were found in an area in Chan Chen Village in the Corozal District this evening around 5.
Accident reported near mile 8, George Price highway
Reports reaching our newsroom is that there was a road traffic accident near mile 8 on the George Price Highway a short while ago.
Details are sketchy at this time.
Agric sees major turnout
According to the Chairman of the National Agriculture Trade Show, Gary Ramirez, around 16,000 persons turned out to the show grounds on Saturday.
He told us that more than another 20,000 people showed up on Sunday.
"Agric is the biggest event in Belize," he said.
According to Ramirez, there were a 110 new businesses present for this year's event.

Do NOT pass by the hot sauce OR the soups when you visit Belize. Soup is some of the most delicious food here - try the Conch Soup - a creamy coconutty chower - or fish sere - coconut fish soup with a salty porky pigtail, if you are lucky. Yesterday I thought I'd sweat (more) and make some Belize Chicken Soup with Habanero. The ONLY Belize recipe that I've mastered. I love it because you can go heavy or light on any part of it�make it spicier or less spicy�basically, it's impossible to mess up.

Francesca Matus, Drew DeVoursney Found Dead In Belize
The bodies of a Canadian woman and her American boyfriend who went missing last week in Belize have been found.
Francesca Matus, 52, was in Belize with her American boyfriend, 36-year-old Drew DeVoursney, when they disappeared last week.
Local media in Belize says the bodies were found at about 5 p.m. local time on a road leading to a sugar cane field in the country's Corozal district near the Mexican border.
Breaking Belize News reported on its online site that the bodies were found in the area by a search party.
The Great Blue Hole in Belize Is an Unbelievable Natural Wonder Visible From Space
The "Great Blue Hole" couldn't be a more fitting name for the underwater sinkhole off the coast of Belize. The circular site, which can be viewed from space, has become a bucket-list destination for travelers and scuba divers alike. At 984 feet wide and 410 feet deep, the dark blue hole is located at the center of an atoll called Lighthouse Reef. Though the sinkhole appears to continue down an infinite depth, an island of coral that outlines the circle rests in much shallower turquoise Caribbean waters. Parts of the ring are even exposed during low tides, showing the contrast in water levels. The massive hole wasn't always submerged underwater. During the Earth's glacial period when the sea level was much lower, the Great Blue Hole originally formed as a limestone cave. But as the ocean began to rise, the cave flooded and eventually collapsed, becoming the popular dive site it is today. The former cave's calcium salt deposits, which look like yellow icicles, are still preserved and can be seen on one's swim. It wasn't until 1971 when Jacques Cousteau explored the site and confirmed its origins that the site became world-famous. Supposedly, the deeper you dive, the clearer the water becomes and the more complex geological formations appear. It's also believed that the Great Blue Hole is the largest of its kind.
