
San Pedro starts celebrations for Dia de San Pedro!
The traditional island festivities of the anticipated 'El Dia de San Pedro,' have already begun on La Isla Bonita. The activities, which honour St. Peter (San Pedro) the Patron Saint of fishermen on the island, opened early on Thursday, June 29th with a fishermen's mass at the San Pedro Catholic Church. Following the mass, a traditional fishermen's breakfast was hosted at the Lions Den, after which, all the fishermen gathered in front of the Central Park for a boat procession that began at the municipal pier at 6AM. At the end of the procession, all boats and fishermen were blessed by Father Scott Giuliani.
A series of fun activities have been planned for the weekend, including photo exhibitions, cultural dance presentations, international performances, sporting events and lots more.

Celebration Of "Dia De San Pedro" Commences
The San Pedro House of Culture, San Pedro Roman Catholic Church and residents of San Pedro gathered in front of the St.Peter's statue outside of the Catholic Church on Wednesday, June 28, 2017, to celebrate "Dia De San Pedro" / St.Peter's Day!
The audience was delighted throughout the night with presentations by the cultural group from Palmar, Orange Walk, The San Pedro Dance Academy, The Trio (including one of San Pedro's very own) and The Mariachi.
"Dia De San Pedro" celebrates the memory of the town's patron saint and of fishermen everywhere. A special mass for all fishermen took place early in the morning, Thursday, June 29, 2017, at 4:00 a.m. at the Catholic Church, followed by breakfast at the Lion's Den and the procession/blessing of boats at sea.
