On Ambergris Caye this morning we have a flat calm sea with a breeze from the NW. The island got rain last night and this morning I think we're seeing the back side of a passing storm.

From Belmopan...

I am now coming to believe there are two types of Tropical Storms, the conventional, circular rotating mass of cloud, the centre rotating faster as you get in closer to the eye-wall, and the other type is a collection of loosely linked ITCZ type spell-ups. That is what "Harvey" was, as it crossed over the Caribbean from east to west, but when it turned north, the Coriolis effects starts to kick in and cause the rotation to intensify and pull everything to form a more conventional circular storm. This is what TS NATE is at present, but as it moves northwards, it can tighten up, and if over warm water, can intensify.

TS NATE is at present, starting to pass Belize to the east, in the Caribbean. It already is resulting in wind direction changes over Belize and cloud changes. The surface wind is from the SW, rather like the "Tiger" wind, the normal easterly cloud, is now from the WNW, at least near Belmopan. The high level cloud is being thrown out from Nate, from the east. This causing a lot of rain, presently out at sea, and that is moving down, from the north. All rather complex, but at present, not really causing any significant adverse weather to Belize.

Looks like today will be mainly cloudy, some rain is expected, presently no indication of when.

The regular cloud over Belize is from the WNW as a result of this Storm, which is putting out high level cloud from the east, as it moves northwards. It is a collection of many individual Swell-ups, and a more concentrated central swell-up. Presently these are causing rain out at sea. Apart from cloud movement directions being different, it does not look as if there will be any significant in pact to Belize as it passes.
