Planning our first trip in August and have booked at Belizean Shores. The web site makes it look great, but haven't heard from anyone who has stayed there yet. Anybody have any info? Thanks! Victoria

We looked at Bel Shores about a year ago, while it was still under construction. What part we saw was beautiful. Gorgeous units, especially the upstairs units with the lofts. I hear it has the largest pool on the island.
Our main complaint was the distance from the town, and inaccessibility. If those things don't bother you, then you should have a great vacation.

I just booked for a week toward the end of May. $84 for a 1/bdrm and a loft couldn't be beat on the island. I think for that price it will be worth the distance from town. I will post my report card when I get back.

Thanks for the replies ... I don't think the distance will bother us, we want to be a little secluded and we're thinking of renting a golf cart for transport. Sullivd would be very interested to hear how your trip goes, and to hear if there is in fact anything in walking distance of the resort i.e. restaurants, bars, etc. Have a great trip! Victoria

I lived at Belizean Shores for a year and a half and loved it. It does have the biggest pool on the island or Belize for that matter. I enjoyed being 4 miles north of town but traveling that distance can be a pain from time to time. If you have a bunch of question i can answer them.

If for nothing else the pool! Good grief! We spent Good Friday in that monster, and it rivals damn near anything you'll find in Cancun. The restaurant/grill should be open in a few weeks, but the bar in the middle of the pool is most definitely open for business. You can get to it "wet or dry", and it sure looked everybody was having a pretty good time to us.

Thanks Choo Choo ... we definitely wanted a place with a pool, so looks like we picked right! Didn't even know they were going to have a restaurant, so that's a plus as well. Do you know if the units have BBQ grills for outside cooking? Victoria

we just got back yesterday from Belizean Shores. It was great, the staff, Kate, Doug, Steve and Lyle were always friendly, helpful and fun. The accomodations were very nice, clean, and everything worked well even the AC which some places have trouble with. We had no problems going to town. During the day we rode bikes which are provided free, it is about 4 miles but only took 20 minutes. The rode in spots was alittle bumpy, but we saw all ages biking without a problem. The ferry accross the cut only runs until 8:00 PM so if your intown for the night the ferry is $5 US a person each way. Good resturants are walking distance, but prices are more, a meal with drinks is about $20-25 US a person, the Palapa is a little less but only open until dusk, Sweet Basils about $15 a person, but was our favorit place, the waiters were fun too. Belizean Shores we highly recommend. The pool is great, and the bar and restaurant open in May.
Have Fun,

Thanks KJ! It's nice to hear from someone who has actually stayed there as a guest, and I really appreciate the info on getting to and from town, that was a real concern. Can't wait to go! Victoria

We are traveling to AC for the first time at the end of May and we were hesitant to commit to the Belizean Shores b/c they could not guarantee that the restaurant would be open by then. Does anyone know if they in fact will have the restaurant open by then, and if not, is that a hindrance to staying there?
