From Belmopan...
I drove through several roads in Belmopan yesterday, during the rains. Several roads were flooded, OK, only an inch or so, but drains overflowing. . . That is except from the end of the road by my house, where I have made a very substantial underground drain. We have now had twice the Oct month average.
But I suspect there may be problems with other places around and low bridges flooded, some probably impassable at present. More rain coming in later this afternoon or evening.

The Department of Transport advises all motorists and the general public that the Iguana Creek Bridge used to go towards Spanish Lookout from the George Price Highway and the Low Lying Wooden Bridge used to go from Santa Elena to San Ignacio are closed to all traffic due to flooding. Please note that the New Bridge which is accessible through the Loma Luz Boulevard will now be used as the Entry into San Ignacio Town. The Hawkesworth Bridge remains as "one way" for traffic leaving San Ignacio Town towards Santa Elena and onwards.

From Belmopan...
I believe the low bridge in San Ignacio is closed as under water, so also I believe the Spanish lookout bridge near Iguana Creek.
My rainfall figures for Belmopan the last 3 days, are :
Sunday 55.3 mm = 2.2 inches
Monday 70.1 mm = 2.8 inches
Tuesday so far and more to come 22.2 mm = .9 inches
We are already at twice the normal month rain for October.
From Wildside... it was an incredible amount out here.... trees practically popping out of the ground from so much water in the ground, and weight of water in their canopies. The river is already falling here, so hopefully will go down significantly overnight. Rain has let up, but still very dark skies.

The new road into SI from the roundabout is a good road and seems to drain off well. It is great that they do not have to make Hawkesworth bridge 2 way as that bottle necks all to the west and route to the Guat border for at least a couple of miles in either direction, for most of the working day.
