I'm getting ready to renew my QRP. But other QRP friends told me the BTB office in San Pedro said that QRP renewals will now go through Immigration, and that we'd get some kind of notification about the new process. I can't find anything on the BTB site, or on line, about this major change.

Has anyone successfully completed and handed in their QRP renewal forms, to date, for 2017/2018? What was your experience?

Has anyone gone through the QRP renewal process at the Immigration office?

If Immigration has anything to do with it prepare to get royally messed up! The only saving grace of QRP was that the BTB handled it!

I have been a QRP for ten years. I followed up and went to the BTB San Pedro office today, to turn in my paperwork to renew my QRP status and get a new card. I was told that there is a new form that will be available by Thursday afternoon, November 30th. The gal at the desk accepted my paperwork, and my money, and gave me a receipt. But she said that my paperwork will not be submitted until I come in and fill out the new form, after tomorrow.

Apparently, the BTB is still accepting the paperwork, counter to what I'd been told by another QRP island resident. The BTB still checks the paperwork, to be sure it's complete. They then hand it over to Immigration to finalize the renewal and make the new card.

I asked the BTB/QRP gal about this process, pointing out that some people thought they had to go to Immigration to renew their QRP card. She said not to do that, as it would result in more confusion.

There is a new, combined form for either applying, or renewing one's QRP. You need to get the form and fill it out. Then you need two passport size photos that are recent and they need to be notatized. You need a complete copy our your passport. They use that to determine if you spent a full, consecutive month in Belize. And you need to prove that you moved $24,000 US into the country, and converted it to Belize dollars. At the time you turn in your renewal paperwork, you pay $50 for the renewal. I think that mainly pays for the new card.

Go to the BTB office in San Pedro, across from the Roman Catholic grand school. They have the application form and instructions. The instructions explain what you need to do.
