This is all very silly. Guatemala said they will move the embassy after the US does and I do not expect the US to move their embassy. The announcement was only posturing. As for banking, don't kid yourself-the US just requested extradition of lawyer in Belize for money laundering and it was a US govt sting. The regs were put in place to staunch drug/terrorism/human trafficking, all elements you would think US cits would be behind. But I thought the murder of 26 people in a elementary school would be a grt time to discuss why and how not in the future. Banking regs caused expat real hardships? Like refugees escaping war torn countries kind of hardships? Perhaps chose your words better. Not only Belize, but all countries. Still think it was raising havoc needlessly? I could give you a peek into some of the operations the law was intended to address, but that law is also to protect and these operations are deadly serious.
