“R-i-i-ing! R-i-i-ing!”
“Will you get that phone?” I asked Sherry. “I’m busy changing the strings on my guitar.”
“Who was it?” I asked, when she came back in the living room.
“It was some guy calling to know if I know where Don, the mechanic is.”
“What did you tell him?”
“He sounded like he might be drunk so I just hung up.”
That call came at around 7:30. At around 9 o’clock the phone rang again.
“Hello, Dennis speaking,” I answered.
“Did you say Dennis?”
“Yes, this is Dennis Wolfe.”

Doctor Love: Left Out
Dear Doctor Love
I am twenty-six years old and have been married to my husband for five years. I have always been close to his mother and she is affectionate and loving towards me. His twenty-year-old brother still lives at home and he recently became engaged to a girl. Now, I have suddenly become invisible. My mother-in-law has become her best friend, gushing over her cute little figure and her beautiful smile. She is always complimenting her on everything from her healthy, long hair to her singing voice and artistic talents. I am pretty but I realize that she is gorgeous and much thinner than me, and comments about her figure make me feel old and unattractive.

Burpees For Bella Fundraiser Brings Community Together
What started as a personal effort for Marissa and Kristian Guerrero to raise funds in helping out their friend Isabella Romero, ended up being a huge fundraiser supported by the community. They managed to raise $8,862 by promising to do one burpee for every dollar collected.
Expecting to challenge themselves with about 1,000 burpees, the Guerreros found themselves being joined by a cross section of the fitness community in San Pedro, Ambergris Caye, and ended up having to knock out over 8,000 burpees. Great thing they had help.
San Pedro PUP Launches Their “Manifesto Of The People”
The San Pedro PUP held it’s manifesto launch on Saturday, February 17, 2018, at the north end of Barrier Reef Drive, San Pedro Town.
PUP Councilor Candidate Ruben Navidad explained the team's vision and plans of paving no less than nine miles of streets with proper drainage and long lasting durability. “No more children wading in muddy water on their way to school, and no more walking through muddy neighborhoods as people to work in the tourism service industry.” Navidad cried shame on a powerful Minister of Tourism, allowing his constituency to live in derelict conditions, unhealthy neighborhoods and unsafe community.

Support Anthony Colman Medical Fund
Anthony was a student at the San Pedro High School who, due to financial difficulties, was only taking classes at night in order to help his parents during the day.
It was a rainy day on Monday, October 17th 2016 when Anthony was taking his stepfather lunch. Anthony came in contact with a live electrical wire, and when his stepfather found him on the ground, he was trembling and foaming at the mouth.
Despite the efforts of the doctors, they could not save his hands which were greatly damaged due to the high electrical voltage he received. Anthony also received injuries to the head and chest area.
Anthony has been accepted at Shriner's Hospital in Mexico City for treatment and prosthetic hands. He will be going there in about a week for his treatments.
We are raising funds for his travel to Mexico City including his Mother. There will be money needed for an apartment, food and transportation during his 2 - 3 week stay. There are 2 volunteers also traveling with Anthony and his Mother. And there will be follow-up care.
Please make a donation for Anthony so we can make travel arrangements right away.

Life in Belize Moves at a Slower Pace, and That’s Just Fine With Us
“It’s just by chance we discovered Ambergris Caye, when a much-needed rest drew us to the island for a vacation. But it’s the natural beauty that kept us coming back year after year and eventually deciding to move here permanently,” says Dawn Schick.
After years of 16-hour days as owners and operators of a Victorian B&B and cupcake shop in Richmond, Virginia, the easygoing lifestyle of San Pedro, on the island of Ambergris Caye, Belize, is just what she and her husband, Albert, were looking for. “We’d been vacationing here several times a year for more than six years and decided this would be our eventual retirement home. But after years of hard work in the restaurant and hospitality industry, we thought, why wait until ‘someday,’? Why not take the plunge right now?” Dawn explains.
So in 2010 they sold their businesses and most of their possessions, packed up their three Yorkie terriers, and headed south of the border to this tropical island off the coast of Belize. And island living hasn’t disappointed. “We love being outdoors and the year-round warm weather lets us go snorkeling or paddle-boarding anytime we want.
Cayo Frances Farm & Fly…Again: Pictures, Pictures, Pictures
I spend a bunch of my time at Cayo Frances Farm & Fly (“the camp”) on the west side of Ambergris Caye and I live, full-time, on the reef side of the island – 7 miles north of town. The camp is almost directly across the island – from reef side to the leeward side through the gorgeous and VERY SHALLOW lagoon system. At certain low tides, some spots are best measured in inches rather than feet.
The back lagoons are filled with birds this time of year. There are quite a few wood storks, reddish egrets and spoonbills back there this year. A new video is in production and a new website being assembled – a new project is going to be announced. And since I am spending my morning sifting thru my 100s of totally UN-organized photos, picking out some favorites, I thought I’d share them with you.

An Archaeologist, a Mysterious Ancient Citadel, and a Vanishing World
Recent news stories have directed the spotlight on the discovery of thousands of ancient Maya sites in the jungles of the Petén in Mesoamerica, still hidden under a tropical canopy. The knowledge of the likely existence of many such undiscovered sites in Mesoamerica is not new to archaeologists who specialize in the study of the ancient Maya, and the technology application known as LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging, a remote sensing method using pulsed laser to "see" what cannot be seen by the naked eye on the ground) that was used to rediscover these sites is also not new. In fact, archaeologist Anabel Ford has been using the results of this technology application for years. The following video tells her story about the rediscovery and conservation of El Pilar, a large ancient Maya city that, for the most part, still lies enshrouded in its forest canopy. She describes the discovery of what she has dubbed the 'citadel', an ancient Maya structural complex that differs markedly from anything else revealed in the land of the ancient Maya. She also relates, on the ground, the unfolding tragedy of a Maya preserve and heritage that is under daily threat of destruction. More detail about her recent work on the mysterious Maya "citadel' has been presented in the article, Uncovering the Citadel of El Pilar, published originally in the Spring 2016 issue of Popular Archaeology.
