From Belmopan...
Well that was a storm last night. It was caused by the Pacific high-level winds over Mexico, inter reacting with other activity in north America to produce a large winter storm over the US eastern coast line, causing serios problems to New York, Boston and other areas. But its long southern arm, which started along the Texas coast, sweep down over the Gulf and the Yucatan yesterday, reaching Corozal yesterday evening, beaching down to central Belize and Belmopan just moments after midnight, with high winds and storm rain. I measured 43mm nearly 2" of rain, but by this morning my whole garden was dry, due to good drainage and the rain finishing hours ago. There is still a little rain, but that is now out at sea. Although that storm band moved down from the north, its wind was from the SW, it was stripping off the tops of clouds yesterday, causing rain in Guatamala, that did not get into Belize. Now there is a blanket of cloud over most of Belize, its lower part moving from the east, but its tops moving from the SW.
Looks like today will start cloudy, overcast, but brighten up later, there could still be some rain showers.
