Recent observations from Roatan in the Bay Islands of the Gulf of Honduras indicate fresh to strong trades are ongoing. The ridge will persist into Sun over the western Atlantic, supporting fresh to strong trade winds and building seas in these areas as well the central Caribbean in general.

The ridge will shift east ahead of a cold front moving into the northwest Caribbean late Sun, reaching from central Cuba to eastern Honduras Mon followed by strong northerly winds. This late season front will weaken through late Mon allowing winds and seas to diminish over the northwest Caribbean through Tue.

From Belmopan...

The Caribbean winds are from the SE bringing typical white clouds over northern Belize and coastal area of southern Belize, the mountains are clear at present. There is a fair amount of haze with all the Caribbean air, no rain around. The haze in the Caribbean is clear in this picture.

Looks like today will be typical, sun with white clouds, no rain expected.

Weather Extremes: Hot Saturday Turns to Wet, Storm Sunday

The dry season is upon us and along with it come erratic weather patterns. On Tuesday, there was a freak storm down south in the Crique Jute Village. Officials say that there were similar patterns across the country, including the Spanish Lookout Community in the west, attributed to the high temperatures being experienced. Forecasters at the National Met Service are predicting severe thunderstorm activities going into the weekend. While Francisca Wellington says it is going to be hot and dry on Saturday with temperatures of up to ninety-eight degrees over inland areas around midday, but there will be a drastic change on Sunday that potentially lead to flooding and even hail.

On the Phone: Francisca Wellington, Forecaster, Nat'l Met Service
"Early morning Sunday, a cold front will be approaching us; it's a late season cold front and it will cross us during Sunday. The prefrontal activities will cross us with a bang. And I want to emphasize, we will be going for severe thunderstorm activities. And I just want to explain what we should expect: strong gusty, damaging winds; heavy, heavy showers and the models are showing up to three inches. There is a possibility for hail and because of the showers; definitely we will be seeing some flash floodings. So I hope whoever is listening, please pass the message on. I know that there is tilapia fest this weekend Saturday and Sunday in Crooked Tree. Well Saturday is good, but coming on to midday Sunday, the weather will be changing drastically. It will be moving from north northwest across the country so I am saying this for the entire country."

Reporter
"And starting Sunday afternoon, most likely."

On the Phone: Francisca Wellington
"That's right; that's right."

Reporter
"So we have been warned. And this storm activities, how long will it last on Sunday?"

On the Phone: Francisca Wellington
I would say from mid-afternoon to early morning. By early Monday morning, it should be over the south moving away."
