San Pedro’s Lobster Fest Crawl in full swing

With the 2018 lobster season officially open since June 15th, San Pedro has been in a celebratory mood, with the San Pedro Lobster Festival’s annual Lobster Crawl being held in various participating businesses on the island. Crawlers are indulging in their favorite lobster-themed dishes, from kebobs, ceviche, eggs benedict, pizza and more. The event ends with a grand block party on Saturday, June 23rd at the Central Park.

In the evening, El Divino Restaurant at Banana Beach Resort held a ‘Party like a Lob*Star’ fete, with delicious lobster appetizers and refreshments for a wonderful evening with the family. Serenading the event was Super Furia Band, DJ Patron and DJ Shyfta. Patrons also enjoyed free kamikaze and jello- shots throughout the event. The Lobster Crawl continued on Saturday, June 16th at Pirates-not-so-Secret Beach Bar & Grill during the day. Attendees once again indulged in the freshly caught crustacean prepared by the expert hands of Chef Maresha and staff. For the night crowd, Estel’s by the Sea was the place to be with grilled lobster and drink specials.

San Pedro Lobsterfest 2018 or Eating 16 Different Dishes & Calling It An Early Night

Last night was one of the biggest evenings of the year on Ambergris Caye. The culmination of 7 days and night lobster activities. The 2018 San Pedro Lobster Festival.

I got to the festival early on an absolutely GORGEOUS perfect late afternoon. Almost everything was almost set up. I was helping to judge the food again – an honor for sure. 16 delicious lobster dishes, 15 cocktails…it sounds like SO much fun…LIVING THE DREAM fun…until you hit number 9 or 10. You hit the lobster wall. Your vision starts to blur a bit…a heavy feeling sweeps over you…all the chatter at the judges table ceases.

I didn’t last long. 16 tastes, 16 sheets filled out and I headed home. The festival was just building at that point…I could tell that it was going to be bigger and better than ever before.

Letter to the Editor: San Pedro Lobster Festival says thank you!

To our lovely community:

The San Pedro Business Association and the San Pedro Lobster Festival Committee would like to give a heartfelt thanks to each and every person and business that helped make the 12th annual San Pedro Lobster Fest a huge success!! This event would not be possible without the many volunteered hours and generous donations from the community.

It takes the entire community, countless hours, days and months to come together to make this festival one of the best events in Belize. The goal of the festival is to welcome the opening of the lobster season and to bring in more tourists as the slow season begins. We have seen that for the past few years during the month of June, there has been an increase in the number of tourists visiting the island during Lobster Fest.

Each year we do our best to improve and expand the festival in positive ways. This year’s Lobster Crawl was a success with visitors making their way to each event to get their passport stamps. We are pleased that the venues have come with interesting ways to attract and entertain everyone making this part of the festival truly unique.

This year’s block party was our largest ever! We had 18 booths that were all creatively decorated and stocked with interesting cocktails and amazing lobster dishes. One thing that makes us the proudest is the quality and creativity of the lobster dishes that the participants presented. The dishes ranged from Lobster sushi to lobster ravioli, to bacon wrapped lobster and lobster corn dogs!

Finally, we need to say that it is through the generosity of the organizers, sponsors, participants, and attendees that the festival is able to survive and succeed. THANK YOU ALL for your great support!! Please look forward to big changes for next year’s festival as plans are already on the way!!
