An elderly friend of mine told me he had friends from Belize who once brought him a tea that had been made from tree bark. He said it was suppose to have medicinal benefits. Any ideas as to what this might be? (I've had drinks made with bitters and bark, but don't think those are what he is referring to.) Thanks for any help!

There are many books that list the different things you can make tea from and what each is purported to do. I think overall it is called "bush medicine." I do a lot of research on the computer - you may want to look up the attributes of the trees you have in your area. There is a world of information out there.

We have used a tea made from the bark of the gumbo limbo tree It is used as an antibiotic and it does work.

My wife has seeped it like a tea and then applied it on areas infected by poison wood with excellent results. Much better results than the meds she received from local doctors in this case. She used the bark to make the "tea" and also used the sap from small limbs. She did not drink it but I believe I was told that was beneficial also.

I made Moringa tea today and it was very good - a nice "green" tea. I used leaves that I had dried then ground up.
