There has been a lot of high level clouds clashing with the easterly Caribbean wet air, causing rain in many parts of Belize over night and still some rain in some parts. Those swellups are due to warm wet air getting into cooler air, the warm air rises, on meeting the cool air, it condenses to cloud, which releases energy, making it warmer, so it rises ever faster, up to great heights, where the cloud turns to rain, bringing down the high level cool temperatures to the ground as rain. This rapid air movement charges the clouds and so causes lightning.
Looks like today, certainly this morning will be patchy, sun for some, rain and over cast for others, presently south under heavy cloud, and parts of the north. The rain easing off presently, but could be more at any time.
