Wolfe’s Woofers: Carpet
“There’s not much carpet used in Belize,” I told Mario. “That’s why I had to special order this from the U.S. Putting down the padding and the nailing strips that hold it in place is easy but once that’s done the really hard part starts.”
“What do you mean?”
“You have to stretch the carpet so it doesn’t leave any rolls or bumps.”
“Isn’t it break time?” Mario asked.
Mario, my friend and sometimes handyman, never misses a chance for break time.

The Belize Birding Festival will be happening the last long weekend of October at the NATS grounds. Belizing.com put together a fan page for the event.
"Home to more than 600 species of birds—including the keel-billed toucan, harpy eagle, blue-crowned motmot and endangered jabiru stork and scarlet macaw—Belize is a bird-watcher's Eden. The country is so forested that birders can sometimes spot up to 50 species in a single excursion. This year, the first Belize Birding Festival is being held at the National Agriculture & Trade Showgrounds in Belmopan on October 25-28. The four day event will include different speakers, vendors and art exhibitors, guided tours, and other special events."

In a Mexican cave and found the paintings of the Maya
Neither the age of the paintings, nor their exact value has not yet been determined, but scientists have called the discovery the most significant of its kind in Mexico.
Images are on the section length of 15 meters and a height of 5 meters.
“This is not the only cave paintings in the Yucatan, but it is the most important because there are a lot of elements: birds, mammals, crosses, geometric shapes, human forms, and among them — palm print front and back”, — said the author of the discovery, a Mexican archaeologist Sergio Grosjean Abineri.
A British couple hitching on a yacht that turned into a tale of horror
This old story keeps popping up... For the crew of the small wooden boat heading to the fishing grounds off the coast of Guatemala, it must have been a sickening discovery. Floating in the Caribbean waters less than 200 yards from the shore were the bloated corpses of two young Westerners, a man and a woman. They had been bound, tortured and weighed down with heavy engine parts. Their identities were unknown.
It was July 8, 1978, and 5,000 miles away in Manchester, we knew nothing except our deepening concern about the fate of my brother Christopher Farmer, a 25-year-old newly qualified doctor, and his lawyer girlfriend Peta Frampton, 24.
They had set off together at the beginning of December 1977 to fulfil their dream to see the world. For seven months they had kept their promise to keep in touch as they travelled through Australia and the Pacific islands to Los Angeles and then through Mexico to Belize. In the age before the internet, Chris made regular phone calls home and Peta sent wonderfully detailed letters to her mother, who lived across the road from us.
