3 Hurricanes being monitored in the Atlantic

The disturbance closest to Belize is not a hurricane... But down the road we need to keep an eye on Hurricane Isaac...

From Belmopan...

A lot of different high level cloud activity in our part of the world and the western Caribbean, no sign of any rotation, but there are lots of ITCZ swellups, causing a lot of rain out at sea, little or none on land.

Looks like today will be largely cloudy, some sun, the odd chance of some rain showers, presently more sor in the north.

Temperatures in Belmopan :
( Coast usually cooler, hills even cooler ) Last night min. 24°C 75°F Yesterday max. 31°C 89°F

From Belmopan...

The Cloud and rain picture. The easterly Caribbean winds have been brought to a stop in the south and slow in the north, by air pushing in from the NW. Hugh level cloud causing increasing clashing over the north coastal areas and producing some scattered rain, which may increase later today.

The blunt arrows indicate slow movement. The size of the arrow indicates its significance.

White is for low level air movements, usually from just above the surface, up to about 2,000 feet or a bit more. The Orange is for high level air movements, typically in the range of 10,000 feet, but spread over a wide range of heights.

The Hurricane weather people have now identified that area I mentioned this morning in our area as INVEST 95L and needs to be watched. Remember, Invest means should be Investigated. 95L is predicted to cross the Yucatán and head into the gulf then into West Texas. I'm hearing thunder now from the northeast.

As I said earlier this morning and yesterday, there is no indication of rotation, but there is a lot of swellups and therefore a lot of rain and active weather under those clouds.

Also be aware, there can be very high winds resulting from down bursts of swellups. I suspect the weather people often latch on to such down-drafts winds so as to be able to call it a tropical storm, when it is not. They did that with Harvey last year, when it went through the Caribbean, then forgot about it as it was going towards Mexico, but it turned, as I expected, and slammed into Texas, they gave very little warning.

The present rain situation :
