Belize is among 22 countries identified as major illicit drug producing or transit nations by US President Donald Trump. The President is quoted as saying the reasons countries are placed on the list is the combination of geographic, commercial, and economic factors that allow drugs to transit or be produced, even if a government has engaged in robust and diligent narcotics control measures.
Trump said that these governments must redouble their efforts to rise to the challenge posed by the criminal organisations producing and trafficking these drugs, and achieve greater progress over the coming year in stopping and reversing illicit drug production and trafficking. He added that the US will continue its strong support for international efforts against drug production and trafficking, as well as strengthen prevention and treatment efforts in the United States.
The other countries are India, Afghanistan, Pakistan, The Bahamas, Bolivia, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Jamaica, Laos, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Peru, and Venezuela.LOVEFM
