Jose "Milo" Paz

The entire country and especially San Pedro residents have been rocked by the passing of career pilot, Milo Paz.

Minister of Tourism, Manuel Heredia, today expressed his condolences to the Paz family.

It is with deep regret that my family and I acknowledge the tragic passing of Milo Paz. We send our sincere condolences to his wife Mini, and his children. We also grieve with his mother, Ms. Evelia, sister Veli and brother Vidal. Milo was a pilot and entrepreneur. He was a dynamic person who has made his mark in our community of San Pedro. He will be forever missed.

May he rest in peace and rise in glory,

Manuel Heredia

His boss and long-time friend John Greif spoke about Paz as a friend and a senior pIlot:...
"Well, I was moved to tears. It was actually on the flight over here that I found out. Milo and I grew up together as little kids; playing in the sand streets of San Pedro. He is an aviation pioneer. He owned his own airplane and was one of the pioneers in the San Pedro/Tikal Day Tour. So, in those days Tropic and Milo would take a load of passengers to Tikal, wait all day with them and then bring them back. He was one of the pioneers in that. He was a smart businessman; he was involved in money changing at one time before the rules changed. He was on time-off on Tropic and we just got confirmation that it is confirmed that he is dead in a plane crash that side. We have kind of a makeshift memorial at the municipal but I dont think its really up to standards so for Milo we might start something new. All of our employees have a life insurance policy that will be paid to whoever he nominated in that policy."

Family Prepares To Say Farewell To Milo Paz

The Paz Family is still gathering final pieces of information on the disappearance of Jose Milo Paz, San Pedro Pilot who has been unheard of since Sunday, October 7, 2018. His family has received no official confirmation and are looking at all the options and final plans to bring his remains home for his final resting place. Every family, person and every corner of San Pedro knows Aljemiro Milo Paz and is saddened and touched by the loss of his life. Milo is a son of the soil, born and raised on the island of San Pedro, Ambergris Caye, Belize.

Principals Lionel Reyes and Angel Nuñez have compliments and fine things to say of the young man educated in San Pedro. Milo operated his private plane for some time and then went into private business. He was never a politician but he was a community activist and soldier, supporter of the People's United Party. There he was able to touch the lives of many people as a philanthropist and community leader. In his passion of touching lives Milo joined the San Pedro Lions Club and served as president. Still, this was not enough for this young energetic man. Milo was nominated for the post of Chairman of the Board of Directors of San Pedro High School, a post which he happily accepted. He spent ten years dedicated towards the improvement of the lives of teachers and students and the institution which he considered his Alma Mater.

San Pedro mourns the loss of this brother and friend and will miss the fine personality of Milo, his smiles, jokes and caring ways.
