Official Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony held on Ambergris Caye
Ambergris Caye officially ushered in the Christmas season with the annual 'Lighting of the Christmas Tree' ceremony held on Saturday, December 1st at the Central Park.
Organized by The San Pedro Town Council, the event saw hundreds of island residents and visitors witnessing the program that not only included the official lighting of the tree, but brought performances from different schools, the Pandemonium Steel Band and Belizean singer Marlyn Vansen.
The event started at 6PM, with Miss San Pedro 2018-2019 Chelsea Mu�oz welcoming everyone to the annual celebration. Mayor Daniel Guerrero and Area Representative Honourable Manuel Heredia Jr. delivered their Christmas messages, expounding on the importance of being even more united during the upcoming festivities. They wished everyone a wonderful time during the upcoming Christmas holidays, then officially witnessed as the Christmas Tree came to life with thousands of colorful lights.

ANNUAL CHRISTMAS TREE LIGHTING CEREMONY 2018
On Saturday, December 1st, 2018, the San Pedro Town Council held its Annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony at the Central Park. Opening the ceremony was Mayor Daniel Guerrero where he welcomed everyone to the event and was grateful for everyone's presence. At the end of his speech, he shouted, "Let there be light!" and the Christmas tree was lit in all its glory. Sharing some Christmas cheer as well was the Hon. Manuel Heredia Jr., Minister of Tourism & Civil Aviation, where he thanked the Bowen Family for the donation of the tree that brings the town together every year for Christmas. He remembered the late Sir Barry Bowen, whom was always cheerful for the holidays island style. After the speeches, the performances began! All schools were invited to show case their talents, whether it was singing, dancing or reciting a poem...these kids sure knew hot to do it! Before introducing the next act, Deputy Mayor Ruben Gonzalez shared a few remarks to close the ceremony, where he thanked everyone for assisting and the schools for participating. After the children's performances, the audience were serenaded by Belizean performer, Marlyn Vansen, who sang some delightful Christmas songs and carols. And lastly, as everyone snapped their pictures and selfies around the tree, the fantastic Pandemonium Steel Band from Belize City played some exciting Christmas songs that even had a few up on their feet dancing.
